My name is Michael and I’m studying archaeology at the University of Leicester, it’s a distance learning degree. The first time I heard of the University of Leicester was when they unearthed Richard III and I was really interested in studying archaeology and they offered a really flexible distance learning degree. Well coming to campus has allowed me to move from the theoretical to the physical and I’m actually in the laboratory seeing archaeology and seeing how it’s done for myself. We’ve done archaeobotany, we’ve looked at bronze tools and looked at buildings in Leicester. I recommend the University of Leicester for studying archaeology, for me it gave me the flexibility to be able to study and carry out a career and really do something that I was passionate about outside of the workplace.
